iPadOS 14 Makes Pencil and Siri More Helpful Tool but Lacks Features and Widgets

Every year around the same time, Apple releases the beta version of its latest OS for its iPhone and iPad users, and this year is no different.

Recently Apple has released its updates for its iPhone (iOS 14) and iPad users (iPadOS 14). Although iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 have a lot in common, iPadOS 14 has its own advantages.

The iPad is a very versatile device and can do a lot of things for its users. Using your iPad, you can create a shopping list, make office reports, and help your children complete their assignments/homework. Besides this, you can also use it as a computer device by simply connecting a keyboard to it. But it has its limitations too.

After going through the beta version of iPadOS, we can say that the company has fulfilled his promise of giving its users features like trackpad support, depth-sensing, 3D scanning, etc. However, support for trackpad is still the best feature that the company has added for its iPad users, which allows them to convert their iPad into the computer and give them a Mac-like feeling. But these are not the only features that Apple has added in its new iPadOS for its users.

Here are things that have been added by Apple in iPadOS 14.

What’s improved?

Apple Pencil is now more useful

Most of the people tend to forget about their Apple Pencil when they are using their iPad. But not anymore- thanks to the newly launched handwriting feature by Apple. Using this feature, you can make your iPad your personal notepad and take notes, create flowcharts, copy, and paste your handwritten text in any app like email, Safari web browser, etc. This is a very nice feature and can help you a lot, especially if you use your iPad as a notepad for taking notes. However, if you have bad handwriting, it might be difficult for your apps to understand what you were trying to say.

Siri and incoming calls have become less frustrating

Getting an incoming call or using Siri can be really annoying for iPad users because they completely take over their iPad screen for displaying animations and caller ID. But not anymore, now they appear as bottom-of-the screens animation, which allows you to focus on whichever app you are using without getting disturbed. It is a really great move by Apple that will allow people to focus on whatever work they are doing on their iPad without getting disturbed.

Sidebars

With the release of iPadOS 14, Apple has added a sidebar feature in its pull-down toolbar and apps like the File browser. Which might give a Mac-like feeling to iPad users. But will all the apps get sidebars? Well, that is a question that can only be answered after the official release of the stable version of iPadOS 14 by the company.

What has not improved?

No new features for trackpads

It’s amazing that most iPad users now have trackpad support for their iPad with features like multi-gesture controls. However, if the company had added new features and additions in it, it would have been appreciated by its users, especially by those who have been using trackpads a lot.

Limited Widgets

With iOS 14, Apple has added widgets and app-organizing folders for its iPhone users, which allows them to organize their apps and keep their screen neat and clean. But if you are an iPad user, you get limited widgets that can be found on the sidebar located on the left side of your home screen.

No multi-account settings

If you give your iPad to your kids, you must enable all necessary settings in your user account (parental controls). Parental controls allow you to protect your data from getting deleted accidentally and also stop your kids from buying and installing any apps on your iPad accidentally or intentionally. Besides this, you can block and limit access to certain apps on your iPad too. But it would have been amazing if Apple had also added multi-account support or something like guest mode feature in their new iPadOS 14.
