Ways to Customize the Display in Windows 10

Keeping your devices modified and experimenting with its looks is something you all must be very fond of. When you log in on your laptop, the very first thing you see is its display.

This is phycological that if something appears to be boring, you lose interest automatically, while something vibrant keeps your energy high. Talking about the display of your laptop, you don’t have to work with its dull appearances. Instead, all of it can be customized.

Set a theme, use colourful pictures, apply motion wallpapers, it’s all up to you with the help of ‘Personalization Settings.’

To access the personalization settings:

  1. Tap on the ‘start’ button.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. From the list of other settings, choose ‘Personalization.’
  4. A lot of changes could be made to your display via personalization settings. These are:

Wallpaper change

  1. A list of options appears on the left side of the screen in the ‘Personalization settings’ window. Click on the ‘Background’ option.
  2. A drop-down menu will appear which has various options to set the display of your windows. These are listed below:
  3. Choose the ‘Picture’ option to set an image as your wallpaper.
  4. If you want to use your picture as the display of your windows, choose the ‘Browse’ option and select the image from its destination file.
  5. Format of the picture can also be changed with the help of ‘Choose a fit’ setting. Here, you can choose to put your picture as a full display, the center of the screen, etc.
  6. If your image is small in size and does not fit the screen, you can add a background colour to it with ‘Choose your background color’ option.
  7. You may set a solid color instead of an image in your background. In the drop-down menu, click on the ‘solid color’ option and pick any color to set to your display.
  8. You can set a slideshow which keeps changing your display automatically. Choose the ‘Slideshow’ option from the Background drop-down menu, and select the pictures you want to run as a slideshow as a folder.

Further settings of the slideshow consist of a duration of the images to appear, screen size of the picture, etc.

Set a Lock Screen

The steps to set a lock screen are:

  1. From the ‘Personalization settings’ menu, select the ‘Lock Screen’ option from the list of options on the left side of the screen.
  2. Background drop-down menu appears with three options that are: ‘Picture,’ ‘Slideshow,’ and ‘Windows Spotlight.’
  3. Choose ‘Picture’ to set an image for your lock screen. You can also set your own picture via the ‘Browse’ option.
  4. To set up a ‘Slideshow,’ navigate the folder you want to set as a slideshow and click ‘Choose this folder.’

‘Advanced Slideshow Settings’ enables you to adjust other settings, choose as per your convenience.

  • ‘Windows Spotlight’ picks a picture for your lock screen automatically, you can give the feedback for the same. It customizes its approach as per your feedback.

Select an Accent Color

The steps to set an accent color are mentioned below:

  1. From the ‘Personalization settings’ menu, select the ‘Colors’ option from the list of options on the left side of the screen.
  2. From the drop-down menu, choose the colors you want to pick. You can also work with ‘Custom’ colors.
  3. Locate the ‘Choose your Accent Color’ menu and pick a color from the range or add a custom color by tapping on the ‘+’ icon on the screen.
