No More Giphy GIF In Zoom Chat Feature For Some Time

Big news for the people addicted to GIFs! Zoom has temporarily removed Giphy, its GIF platform, from its chat feature. To assure its users, Zoom stated that it would bring back the feature after some time. The company is merely waiting for the security and technical measures to get done, after which it will bring back the feature. Giphy is not new in the world of GIFs as it is seen working closely with many messaging apps.

A list containing security updates includes this change. The list also consists of a few updates like screen sharing limits, and muting/unmuting features. The list of security updates also mentions some restrictions around logging in to Zoom meetings from more than one device.

Not many days back, Facebook took over Giphy for around $300 million. It is said by many that the giant wants to integrate Giphy into Instagram. However, the impacts of the acquisition on Twitter, iMessage and other social platforms remain vague. Another critical factor here is that Giphy very confidently stated that it is not having any embedded trackings, and the Application Programming Interface (API)  doesn’t access any data of the users.

Facebook and Zoom have one thing in common these days- both have seen their own set of security issues. However, seeing a tinge of criticism for security issues among all appreciations, the former is trying hard to get over the issue. Zoom cannot hamper its rising demand during the stay in home orders around the world due to problems like these. Almost all countries of the world have instructed for a lockdown in their nations. Well, this is the sole reason for the booming of Zoom these days. People sit back at home, attend meetings, classes and workshops, in better quality and ease during the stay in home orders. Despite all the economic setbacks the nations are facing these days, Zoom is playing a pivotal role in maintaining work functionality and bringing work-life in cosy living rooms.

On asking about the latest change, Zoom said that the action of disabling Giphy in Zoom chat feature is intended to ensure the security and privacy of users. It also gives relief to its fans by saying that it will bring the feature back very soon once additional security steps are taken. The company is working hard to make improvements with its security functioning. Its users are waiting to get the Giphy GIFs back.
